We all needed a break from our hectic secular worlds so we planned a girls’ weekend of fun. We decided Charleston was the perfect place… downtown, of course.

We stayed at a great hotel right on Meeting Street, the King Charles Inn which is within walking distance to basically everything. The King Charles Inn provided free parking so we just parked our cars and walked the rest of the weekend. The staff was great, especially Bellman Joe. They all couldn’t have been nicer.

Saturday night we strolled over to Hanks to have a drink or two before dinner – the appetizers and martinis were great.

From there we headed over to Anson for dinner… a fabulous dinner I might add. A friend of ours flew in from San Francisco to meet us and had shrimp and grits for the first time. His reaction to this yummy Charleston dish - “wow!”.

We decided we needed some champagne before calling it a night. To Chais we went.

A bottle of Veuve Clicquot for all to share… my favorite! Exhausted from our fun night we headed back to King Charles Inn to find comfy beds and perfect pillows awaiting us. We all slept so well. As we woke on Sunday morning we decided a good brunch was in order. We primped for the new day and were so excited to find a make-up (magnifying) mirror in the bathroom.

To Tristan we went for brunch and actually arrived a little too early as they don’t open for brunch until 11:00. Tristan is in the French Quarter Inn so with our time to spare we toured the French Quarter Inn. This hotel is quite posh and we thought we might stay here on our next girl’s weekend. Brunch was great and the two pots of French press coffee were even better.

My girlfriends needed to head on after brunch. But I was still up for more of Charleston. I heard there was a Green Fair at Marion Square so I decided to check it out. Tons of people swarmed Marion Square, great restaurants with sustainable products had booths and as I was perusing all the booths I came acrooss a booth that featured the King Charles Inn.

Apparently they are a Green hotel, so what an added bonus to find. I learned that the company that runs the King Charles Inn is in the process of making all their hotels Greener. In case anyone is interested the name of this company is Charlestowne Hotels. If you’re concerned about Greener living, I’d check out their inventory of hotels next time you visit Charleston and they have quite a lot to choose from.

After walking around the Green Fair I decided to call it a day and I certainly was exhausted.

Our Charleston weekend was great!
